What happens to what you send

The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, and your message.

The intake form at /start asks the following, then your name, email address, and an optional phone number:

• What are you hoping a new site will do?
• What have you got at the moment?
• Anything you already know you want, or want to avoid? (optional)
• How soon are you looking to do this?

Nothing is sent until you press the button on the last step. Moving through the questions sends nothing, so a form you abandon halfway leaves nothing behind.

One email, to me. That is the whole journey.

It is not written to a database, because there isn’t one. It is not added to a mailing list, shared with anyone else, or sold. If something goes wrong sending it, the error is recorded — the fact that a send failed, never what you wrote.

One step asks “Anything you already know you want, or want to avoid?” Answer it in as much or as little detail as you like, or skip it — one sentence is genuinely enough. It exists so the first conversation is useful, not to build a record about you.

Email is not a secure channel, and this notice would be misleading if it implied otherwise. Anything you would rather not put in an email is better said in person.

No advertising pixels, and nothing that follows you from another site to this one, or from this one to another. Nothing here is sold or shared with anyone for marketing.

No analytics of any kind. Nobody is counting your visit.

No cookies are set.

There are no accounts, so there is no password to look after and nothing stored between visits.

When you submit a form, your IP address is used to count how many submissions have come from that address recently — this is what stops the form being flooded with spam. It is held in memory for up to ten minutes and then discarded. It is not written to disk, and it is not included in the email.

Two companies handle the request on the way through. Their own privacy policies apply to that handling.

• Resend — Delivers the enquiry email. It passes through their systems on the way to my inbox.
• Vercel — Hosts this site and handles the request your browser makes.

For as long as the email sits with me — the same as any email you send anyone. There is no separate copy anywhere on this site to expire, because no separate copy is made.

Ask, and it is done. You can also ask what you sent, if you no longer have a copy. There is no form to fill in and no account to close.
